Lawn Renovation

If you’re looking to renovate a small patch of existing turf or revitalize your entire lawn from scratch, our team has everything you need. Browse our wide selection of lawn renovation techniques below.

Soil testing is a cost efficient way to properly diagnose exactly what is going on beneath the surface of your turf. We advise all lawn care clients to take advantage of this opportunity to achieve optimal lawn health and ideal aesthetic results.

Our technicians will collect a small sample of soil to be sent off to the lab for analysis – results typically take about 2 weeks to come in. The report will provide a breakdown of important nutrient and mineral levels within the soil, allowing us to choose the best possible products and usage amounts to obtain the lawn of your dreams.

We offer a variety of soil enhancement products designed to optimize plant health and nutrition. For persistently unhealthy lawns, mastering soil biology is key. These remedial amendments work to improve the soil’s moisture retention, nutrient levels, and microbiome activity, lending to the development of a plush and robust lawn. Soil enhancements are a great natural alternative to aeration, and are especially beneficial towards fostering growth in compacted/sandy soils.

This service involves top dressing an area with compost to improve soil quality through the introduction of vital nutrients and microbiomes. Compost is also used to level out areas with slopes or dips, mitigating damage from excessive water run off and pooling, while also helping to prevent soil erosion. Composting proves especially helpful in keeping new grass seed safe and secure throughout the entire germination process.

Aeration is a crucial procedure involving creating small perforations in the soil to enhance air, water, and nutrient penetration to grass roots. This fosters deep root growth for a robust and healthier lawn. We employ a comprehensive aeration method to maximize soil porosity. To maintain turf health we advise performing aeration at least once a year, typically in the Fall.

Enhancing your lawn through overseeding involves adding new grass seed to improve both its appearance and overall health. The advantages of overseeding an established lawn are manifold:

    • Establishing a dense, lush grass cover
    • Aiding recovery post-invasive treatments
    • Altering the lawn’s appearance or resilience
    • Repairing damage and thickening sparse areas before winter
    • Introducing new genetics for enhanced appearance and performance
    • Preventing weed infestation
    • Cultivating a thick sward to effectively deter weed growth

ethatching involves removing a dense a mat-like layer of organic matter build-up from the lawn (such as dead grass or mulched leaves). not always essential, a thin layer of thatch isn’t harmful & can be especially helpful in protecting new germination. This practice wields best results when performed in the Spring prior to applying any pre-emergent weed or insect control.

Sod installation is a viable approach to renovating lawns both big and small. Sod is great for repairing small areas of damaged/undesirable turf (ie. patches of bent grass) and is a wonderful solution to quickly establishing a new lawn.

Slice seeding is a lawn renovation technique using a machine to slice rows into the ground and implant grass seed directly into the soil. This practice is ideal for areas requiring special attention. By penetrating through the thatch layer, germination rates of seed are significantly enhanced.

Hydroseeding is a remediation technique that increases grass seed germination rates by encapsulating the seed in a moisture sealant. This method is especially helpful in renovating difficult spots, such as steep hills or slopes, while also aiding to prevent excessive water run-off and soil erosion. Our talented technicians will handle all preparation required in addition to the application.

Turf and flora can be very susceptible to developing fungal infections, especially during the humid heat of the Summer. Fungicides work to control and mitigate pre-existing disease through creating a safeguard around the affected plant, preventing new fungal spores from attaching to the plant’s exterior.

Plant Health Care

As we clean and remove organic debris to maintain a manicured landscape, we deprive our trees and shrubs of necessary nutrients. It’s important that we remember to feed them in the Spring, in the Fall, or as needed throughout the season. This technique involves injecting or soaking our nutrient rich fertilizer solution into the root zone of trees and shrubs to improve and maintain health, in turn increasing the life expectancy of the plants.

Anti-Desiccants work by forming a protective, wax-like layer around each leaf of a plant or blade of grass to help maintain plant health throughout the Winter dormancy period. These products help the foliage to retain moisture and nutrients, keeping them safe from extremely cold temperatures and facilitating a seamless transition into the Spring growing season.

Many of our trees are shrubs, especially Arborvitae, Cypress, and Spruce are susceptible to be damaged by mites. Mites are tiny, and we usually don’t know they are present until damage is visible. The purpose of this application is to control these microscopic pests. We recommend two spray applications be performed in late Spring and early Summer or as needed.

As humidity rises in the Summer, many of our Deciduous trees and shrubs become susceptible to an array of diseases and pests. We recommend two applications be performed in late Spring/early Summer to prevent damage and protect the health of your plants.

Evergreen plants are susceptible to a host of fungal diseases and damaging insects. Horticultural Oil is applied is to control insect and fungi populations, mitigating damage of flowering shrubs in the Spring and Fall.

Broken, damaged, diseased, or infested; unhealthy limbs can pose a huge threat to your property, your safety, and to the plant itself.  Properly maintaining your trees and shrubs is the most simple, yet effective way to prevent the potential for disaster.
